Tire Registration & Recalls

Last updated 2026-09-30 · Tread OS LLC

How to find out whether a tire you own has been recalled, and how to make sure the maker can reach you if one is.

Who sends recall notices

A tire recall comes from the tire manufacturer and from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Tread OS does not issue recalls, and we do not register your tires or monitor recalls for you. The most reliable way to hear about one is to check yourself and to register your tires with the manufacturer.

1. Find the DOT number on your tire

Every tire has a code on its sidewall that begins with the letters DOT. It identifies the tire and, in its last four digits, the week and year it was made. On some tires the full code is printed only on the inner sidewall, the side that faces the car. Keep a photo of it.

2. Check for a recall

Search NHTSA's recall lookup with your tire's brand, model and DOT number:

3. Register your tires with the manufacturer

Registering gives the maker your contact details so it can reach you directly if a recall affects your tires. Use the registration form on the manufacturer's website, or the card that comes with the tire if it has one, and have your DOT number ready.

Bought from us?

If you bought tires through Tread OS and need help reaching the manufacturer, email info@tread-os.com with your order number and we will help you find the right contact.

If you think a tire is unsafe, stop driving on it and have it inspected by a tire shop.
